Reprehensible

Disclaimer: There’s plenty to be offended over in this post. If you don’t want to be offended, stop reading now. Unless, of course, you are a Muslim, in which case I couldn’t give a smaller shit how offended you are if I squeezed my sphincter for an hour.
Asked about recent violent protests following the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, Mrs. Bush said the violence needs to stop and that dialogue is needed.
“Well, we’re speaking out, which I hope every country will do. Every country needs to speak out all over the world, especially in the Middle East; those countries need to speak out. I know it’s reprehensible to belittle someone’s religion, belittle the revered figure of that religion like the cartoons did,” Bush said.
“But on the other hand, such violent protest, burning embassies, and really violent protests, are also reprehensible. And to have a dialogue, a real dialogue, the violence needs to stop,” she said.
Reprehensible. That’s what she said here.
There was also the comment by leftist press pundit Mark Shields on “The News Hour“:
And that is a sense some Muslims that since the United States invasion and occupation of Iraq, that there’s been a demonizing of their faith.
Or this one from a different episode of “The News Hour”
GENEVA OVERHOLSER:
You know, we are talking here about the clash of two really important tenets. And one is that we, in journalism in this country believe in telling the truth, not letting anyone suppress the truth, being forthright, giving the reader or the viewer the full story. But the other tenet is this very profound Islamic view that you don’t picture the Prophet Mohammed and certainly that you don’t picture him in negative situations.
There seems to be a deep concern here for the murderous and violent religion of Islam and not much for Evangelical Christianity. You know what’s offensive to Evangelicals? Evolution.

Gay marriage:

Abortion:

And negative depictions of God, Christ, and Christianity in general:

Now, have you ever heard of a U.S. newspaper that would not print anything like the above because it would be offensive to millions of Americans? Have you ever heard of an editor that wouldn’t print an anti-Christian cartoon because of the offense it might cause? Ever heard a pundit express concern over the deep and profound religious objections Christian’s have to abortion or gay marriage?
Nope, me neither.
Understand that I am not saying that these cartoons shouldn’t have been published, of course they should have been. I also don’t think Mrs. Bush finds the cartoons reprehensible (what sane person could?). What I do think is that people and governments are scared of this religion and the reactions of its fanatical practitioners. Screw moderate Islam, there ain’t no such animal. If there were then why would the world press be any more scared to publish this cartoon than they were to run images of Piss Christ?
Know when the editor of the SF Chronicle says:
ROBERT ROSENTHAL: Well, we made a decision here that we felt we could describe it in words. And we also made an attempt on the first day to purchase the cartoon from the Danish newspaper - magazine, excuse me - and actually because of the time difference, there was nobody in their office. So that gave us 24 hours where we had to wait and get back to them.
And by that time, we ran a picture of people in Europe looking at it, being the cartoons in a European newspaper. We also felt that the description in words worked. And at that point, it would have been, we felt, gratuitous to run it in the sense that the news story was breaking, it was out there, the reason for the rioting in the Muslim world was very clear. And we knew that some segments of our community would find it very offensive.
You can rest assured that he is full of it. They didn’t run it for the sole reason that they didn’t want to offend and they didn’t want to be targeted by this wackjob religion. I can understand some of this trepedation. I actually felt a little nervous about publishing this cartoon:

Until I realized that there is no better reason to publish things like this than the fact that they have made us feel nervous about doing so. Fuck them and their intellectual and physical terrorism. Fuck them and their stupid religion. Fuck them and their pedophile prophet. Fuck them and their stupid, dead, false god. Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them. They do not get to dictate my actions or my responses.
Islam is a fucking cancerous blight that is spreading as rapidly as an STD among Iranian goat-herders and we need to start saying so. Rational, normal, civilized people do not behave in such a manner and until such time as the majority of these Muslim nations wish to act like the rest of the world then they should be shunned. If they will not accept their isolation then they should be crushed. I’m tired of fucking around with people that think death is the answer to everything.
Did I mention that Mohammed was a pedophile?

Mohammed is a Pedophile?
Brian at Goldfalcon is on a rightous tear. Ohhhh, he’s bout had it with the machinations of the Islam Nations. Here’s one of Brian’s cartoons on Mohammed.
